​Founding of Chestnut Hill Eco & Wellness Retreat

Chestnut Hill Eco Resort was originally known as Stream Garden Retreat which was created in 1996 by Pook (Mrs Vanerath Sornprasit) Pook is originally from Thung Lung, the nearby town, so she has a long association with the area where Chestnut is located. Inspired by the teaching of Krishnamurti, she determined to create an oasis that welcome people from all over the world to this beautiful jungle retreat.

In was a children’s camp that brought children from the village and city to live together close to nature. In the first days of the Center there was no road and no available water for drinking. 

Two centuries later, on 30th July 2016, the name Chestnut Hill replaced Stream Garden which live on the legacy of Stream Garden but also pursuing our strong believe further sustainable Eco Tourism and sufficiency economy. 

Nowadays, Pook does not involve in the daily operation of Chestnut Hill, she split her time between Chestnut Hill, Bangkok, India, and Europe where her interest in Education, Yoga, Meditation, discussion about universal Truth of the Humanity. She is also the founder of Anveekshana foundation, a non religious, not for profit organisation that has main objective to find pursue the Universal Dharma for humankind.

Chestnut Hill Eco's Value

To understand and learn more about Chestnut Hill Eco Resort, we would like to inform about principle and concept which the resort is based upon.

​Chestnut Hill Eco resort started in 2016 as to be a social enterprise. Special fund has been established to support rural communities mainly in Education, Social and Environment. We actively supporting the Aor Bor Tor to promote awareness on the environment, social, and education issue.

To ensure of sustainability which government initiative programs, we follow guidelines of Community Based Tourism Networks (CBT) which support and inspire eco-tourism programs across the nation. It was based on those principles, and to preserve the nature and the environment for both tourists and the local people. This social enterprise company was founded and registered as Chestnut Hill Eco Co., Ltd.

Now Chestnut welcome guests from Thailand and around the world. It is home to nature lover, retreaters, and people who look for peaceful place to relax, rejuvenate, regenerate life. It is a place that you do find phone or TV, but to be able to enjoy sounds of nature.

Around our resort, we have variety of plants which we put the names on them. It is in this where you can see birds and rich in tropical fauna which enriches your eco-friendly living lifestyle.

Our resort is well-maintain and we can proudly say that we can of offer the comfortable, clean, and healthy environment. We are very lucky to be just half an hour from Hat Yai that has the cleanest air in the city.
